In springtime Shenzhen, art is in full bloom. On March 22, the 2026 inaugural exhibition at L-Art Gallery (Shenzhen), "The Poetic Reconstruction of the Everyday—A Trio Exhibition of Ge Yan, Qi Wenzhang, and Xu Dawei," officially opened. Curated by Li Guohua and with renowned art historian Lü Peng serving as academic advisor, the exhibition will run until May 20.
This exhibition brings together significant recent paintings by three post-80s artists: Ge Yan, Qi Wenzhang, and Xu Dawei. Each employing a distinct visual language, the three artists collectively respond to a shared question: as contemporary art faces "excessive rhetoric," how can painting re-enter the experiential structure of real life?
Ge Yan folds time between historical imagery and contemporary spaces, using theatrical light and shadow structures to imbue viewing with a silent tension. Qi Wenzhang gazes calmly and restrainedly at the "nameless" figures in the city, implanting subtle absurdity and alienation into ordinary scenes. Xu Dawei transforms visual experience into introspective psychological spaces through the rhythm of color and the imagination of form.
Although the creative paths of the three artists differ, they engage in a tacit and meaningful dialogue within the gallery space. In their own ways, they reawaken our visual experiences and open up our spiritual realms.
"The Poetic Reconstruction of the Everyday—A Trio Exhibition of Ge Yan, Qi Wenzhang, and Xu Dawei" is open to the public. All are warmly invited to visit.
